I can't say for sure, but Alvy Downey's father may have been either James Downey Jr. or William Downey. James Jr. and William were the sons of James Downey Sr and Rachel Baker. James jr. was born about 1765 in Litchfield, CT. William was born about 1767 in Litchfield, CT. William's wife was Lois someone. James jr's and William's brother Thomas had a son named Calvin C. Downey, and Calvin had a son named Alvah, so perhaps the name Alvah (Alvy) ran in the family. James jr and William also had a brother named Titus, who died in Forge Hollow NY. I know some of this family, and William for sure, did live in NY. You might want to check that out and see if William or James Jr did have a son named Alvy or Alvah.
