Most of my family, including myself were born in or around Detroit. I asked my Father, also a James Downey, what he knew of our family history. His Great Grandfather was named James also. Born in Detroit sometime in the mid-1800's. He was a firefighter, and was trampled by a horse in 1904. My father cannot remember if James had a brother named michael. James did have 2 children named, 1.Harold John and 2.Kathryn (or maybe Katey). From Hoarold came Ralph Downey, then my father James Downey. As far as the NY end of the situation, I know we have extended family in the eastern parts, but we've lost touch with them over the years.
