James Downey showed up in Litchfield, CT about 1760. He was married to Rachel Baker. They had 12 children, then Rachel died and he married again almost immediately and had another 12 children. One of the sons he had with Rachel was Thomas Downey. Thomas married Anna Bosworth, who was descended from 2 Mayflower families. Thomas was born May 17, 1771 in Litchfield CT and died in 1839 outside Quincy, IL while travelling on a Morman wagon train. Anna was born in 1780 in Spencertown, Albany Cty, NY and died in 1856 in Webster, IL. Thomas and Anna had 11 children. Calvin C. Downey was born Sept. 19, 1800 and died before Aug. 18, 1853. He married Nancy Myers, who was born in a castle in England. Charlotte Downey was born about 1797 and died about 1817. There was an unknow son born about 1799. Eliza Downey was born about 1802 and married Thomas Robinson. Lucy Sally Downey was born March 31, 1804 and married Davis McOlney. Luna Downey was born about 1806 and married William Gates. Jabin Bosworth Downey was born Jan 12, 1809 and died May 13, 1877 and married Catherine Buchanan. Harvey C. Downey was born about 1811 and died before 1850. He married Lorinda French. Martha Downey was born about 1814 and married Henry Herron. James Downey was born about 1823 in Quebec Canada and married first a Margaret and then Julia Tillard.
