Glad to hear you had such a break through. I'm praying for a miracle for my Bridget Downey born 1801/1802 in Ireland and was in Canada 1830 or earlier at Peel Cty. ON. Died in Toronto Twp. Peel Cty in 1887. I only know that a John Downey in ON. Canada in 1850 was a witness at her dgr's marriage also in Toronto Twp. John is only slightly common LOL....quite a few possibilities and too many John's for my liking. Wish I knew where she was from in Ireland. However, in my case I know she was from Ireland 100% and R.C. given church records and four censuses 1852-1881. Keep om enjoying your research and thank you for replying. Are you in AB. I've seen a lot of messages from years gone by on the board who might be a connection. After all these years however doubt whether a reply would be forthcoming. Still with have to see other "Downeys" help with R.C. Ontario, Canada connections. Keeping my fingers crossed to find someone with an Downey/O'Shaughnessy marriage in their research or a JOHN DOWNEY in Canada C. 1800-1860
