Margaret Ciceley Downey-Ambrose Vandiver

In her wonderful book "My Downey Family" (LDS FHC Salt Lake US/CAN 929.273 D759mt, film number 1750371), Catherine Downey Mattson gives the parents of Margaret Ciceley Vandiver, b. 1790 in SC m. Ambrose Foster Vandiver, as Samuel Downey and Anna Cook. Other sources make her a daughter of a Jonathon Downey.

The LDS Ancestral File (from which everything must be taken with a grain or two of salt) has children from Samuel Downey and Anna Cook, and there is no Margaret Ciceley Downey among them. The children the Ancestral Files shows are Polly (b. 11 Nov 1786, m. Robert Hughes), Peter (b. 22 Nov 1788, m. Sarah Olds), Peyton (b. abt. 1795), Calvin (b. abt 1800), and John Cook (b. 9 Nov 1807, m. Julia Anna Susan Withers).

Question to all Downey researchers: I am leaning to favoring the Jonathon Downey theory as the father of the Margaret Ciceley Downey who married Ambrose Foster Vandiver. Any comments, proofs, opinions, etc.?
