Dublin Downeys Margaret & Thomas (Tom) adopted 1880s?

My great grandmother was Margaret Murphy (nee Downey).

Her brother, my great granduncle, was Thomas (Tom) Downey.

They were adopted by the Downey’s of Dublin (possible links to 'Beltons Pub' Collins Park Dublin??) I’m unsure if they were blood relations or why they were adopted, nor have I any info regarding their birth names...

Margaret married John (Jack) Murphy who worked for Dublin Corporation as an Iron Welder/Monger but also spent time in the Irish Army (and I’m told was imprisoned in England for his involvement in the 1916 Rising?)
They had 3 children Margaret, Michael (who emigrated to America) adn Ann (who emigrated to England and later Jamaica?)

I have no further information on Tom.

I know this is a long shot with such limited information but should this tie in with any Downeys out there, please advise – any help at all would be very much appreciated!

Many thanks
Lisa
