Hi, I am in England, my grandfather was Edward Downey, born 14 sept 1873, in Lower Firoda Castlecomer Co. Kilkenny, married Margaret Curran, his father was Martin Downey from Conahy, I have seen some Downeys in Connecticut. I am looking for ancestors who went to USA from Ireland, please e-mail me if you have any information lmwilby @ hotmail . com I have just got Irish Nationality and passport by descent, quite easy process really, go to Castlecomer next year to find out if any relatives still alive there, I hear alot of Downeys still live in Conahy, from posting on www.castlecomer.ie forum site. Hope to hear from someone over there, thanks alot, Laurence Wilby, mother was catherine Downey now 86, last of 6 children of Edward and Margaret (who went to Manchester in about 1903)
