Hi Kathy,
I remember you from when you came with your parents and brothers when you were little to the Downey farm in Minnesota.
Francis Downey was my uncle. Peter and Cordie had six kids: Clifton, Dolores, twins Bernice and Bernadine, Francis, and Phyllis.
Francis was married to an Indian woman named Monica. They had a son name Gaius. There was another son, too, but Francis always said that one wasn't his. The marriage ended in divorce and Francis roamed around the country, rumor has it that he roamed to get out of paying child support.
My grandparents, Peter and Cordie, got a phone call when I was in high school from the authorities in Washington state. They said that he was killed trying to hop aboard a freight train. He's buried out there in a veteran's cemetery. My aunt Bernadine went to see his grave several years ago.
Francis's brother Clifton disappeared and no one ever found out what happened to him.
Dolores passed away, as I'm sure you know. My mother Bernice died years ago of a brain tumor. Bernadine is alive and living in Portland OR and is over 90 now. Phyllis is alive and living in Jacksonville FL.
Dolores had 3 sons, Arvin, Dennis and Randy. Randy tragically died when he was in his early 20's. Arvin married Dorothy and they had five kids, who now all have kids of their own. Dennis married Helen and they had 4 kids, 3 boys and a girl. The 3 boys all have kids. The girl doesn't.
Bernadine has one daughter named Diana. She had a baby a long time ago but gave it up for adoption and never had any other kids.
My mother Bernice Downey only had me. I have 4 kids, a girl and 3 boys.
