Alexander Downey of Kentucky

I am looking for information about Alexander Downey of Kentucky and Missouri. My family lore indicated that he was murdered in a robbery in Evansville, Ind. in 1849 while traveling by barge from Missouri to Kentucky. He left a wife and four children, Susan Maria (Mariah?) b. 19 Jul 1847 KY, Campbell B. b. 1848 MO, Tommy b. 1849 and Martha b. 1849. In 1850 Campbell was living with Samuel Blair in White Co., Ill and Susan (my GG Grandmother) was living with Thomas and Nancy Lockhart in Franklin, Simpson Co., KY. Their mother is thought to have died about 1850 in Evansville. I am seeking evidence to prove these beliefs, the ancestry of Alexander Downey and the identity of his wife. (possibly Blair or Lockhart)
