Perhaps this is old information for all of you...
According to the 1900 Census, William Alexander's mother, Roxanne was born in Indiana. She is buried at Oak Ridge Cemetary, Millersburg, Duncan Twsp., Mercer Co., IL. DOB is listed as 1/15/1841 and DOD as 3/9/1910. I've seen her name vary -- RoxAnn, Roxana, Roxie A.
William's wife,Mary Elizabeth Corder was born 9/11/1864 in Marshalltown, IA. Her parents were James Corder, born abt. 1833 in KY. He married Mary Elizabeth Murty about 1857.Her DOD is 11/25/1867 and is buried in Logan Cem. near Van Cleave, IA. She was born 12/13/1837 in PA to William Murty and Ann Potter. William Murty was born 12/23/1818 in Columbia Co. (now Montour Co.) PA, married Ann in 1836, died 10/31/1880, buried in the Indian Village TWP, Tama CO. IA. Ann Potter Murty was born 1/21/1818 in England and died 6/10/1859 and is buried in the Indian Vill. TWp., Tama. Co., IA (?? Maple Hill Cemetary). Ann was William Murty's first wife. His second was Minerva Gerry.
Interesting-- I had a great aunt whose name was Murty. Now I know from where her name came.
Jim, could you share addresses for Mary McCallion and Helen Walsh? What a shame I didn't start the family history earlier. We were in Ireland 2 years ago...
