My gggrandmother was Joan Downie who married Kery Keane of Mounteagle, Brosna. She died in Brosna around 1860. She and Kerry had six children:
1)Margaret; Married Finnerty. Died in New York in 1917 at age 95. Had at least one child.
2)Norrie(Nora): Married Jim Walsh. Died in New York Age 85. Children: Kitty, Hannie, Mary, Kerry (male) and Mick. Kitty married a man nemed Shea. 3) Kate: married John O'Connor of Twogneeves, Brosna. Died at age 85 in Brosna. Children: Kerry (male), died in Brosna; Martin-died in New York; Joan, who married Dick Downey of Yonkers. Kate, who married Phil Casey of Brosna. 4) Ellen Keane (my ggrandmother) married Dan Murphy, a shoemaker in Knocknagoshel. 5) Mary married Tim Guiney of Brosna. One son, Denis Guiney had a pub in Listowel, Co Kerry. and 6) Willie: died single in new York in 1917.
I have posted messages that tie in with this one on the Murphy, Keane, Hickey, Lane, Ahern and O'Connor pages. Any follow-up info would be very much appreciated. I will be in Ireland from Feb. 17-March 14, 1999 doing research. Would love to meet some of my long lost and wealthy cousins. Maybe not in that order!
