We did not know for sure. We did know that there were 3 children born to Thomas Burns and the former Catherine Murphy, both b. Ireland, Mary, Julia and Thomas, and that Mary had married a Downey and perhaps had a son in the fire department. Mary's father Thomas Burns was one of eight children born in Leitrim to John Byrne and Mary McConnell. Three of the Burns boys, Philip, Thomas and Michael came out to the US about the same time. Michael married a Katie Harrington and they had seven children, one of whom, Annie Burns, was my wife's grandmother.
Philip Burns married a Molly Clancy, and they had six children, the oldest of which, also Philip, married a Johanna Hanson, and they had two children, whom your family may have been in contact with, a Philip and a Louise, now Louise Bisogno-Burns, a writer.
Your father and family have been in our prayers.
