I don't know much about the Downey side of my family. My father's name is Alfred Lloyd (sometimes spelled Loyde) Downey and he was 21 years old in 1948 when I was born. His father had traced their family tree at one point and it was claimed that these Downeys were related to Jesse James and the Dalton brothers. Alfred had a sister named Peggy. I might be able to find out more if this sounds like your people.
