1. ROBERT E.1 DOWNEY was born Abt. 1830 in Indiana, and died January 06, 1879 in Dallas, TX. He married ANNA BLACKER February 08, 1855, daughter of ROBERT BLACKER and ANNA ABRAHAM. She was born October 24, 1840 in Cinncinatti, OH, and died January 26, 1900 in Comanche, Oklahoma.

3/2001 Per information from Robert E. Downey, great grandson of Robert E. Downey.
"Robert E. Downey, maybe born around 1830, in Indiana -- ran away from home at about 10 or 12 years of age. He left his mother and a younger brother in Indiana. HIs father had died and the mother had remarried. Somewhere in Missouri he met a man named Delay, who had two horses. Delay let Robert ride one horse with him to Texas. They settled around Dallas where Robert grew to manhood. It was told that there was one store, one saloon, a blacksmith shop and that was all that consisted of Dallas. He served as a Confederate soldier for four years. After the Civil War he helped survey Texas for sections and townships."
