I wonder if perhaps your Seth Brush DOWNES isn't somehow connected to my DOWNS/DOWNES family? There's a coincidence of repeat names (Smith, Brush, etc.) and locations (Connecticut). I just posted a message to this forum (subject line: "Smith Downs/Downes, b. 1806, Redding, CT") that gives the known info I have on Smith and his son, George Washington Downs (my gg-grandfather).

Do not have any parentage/ancestry info for Smith but would love some, as I also wonder if he was not some sort of alien from outer space, judging from the lack of info on him!

Hope to hear from you.

Kathy
