Interesting, my father moved here in the early 1960, he was part of the CND. Air Force, we are the only Downard's to move out of B.C. However I was told that an uncle of my great grandfather's was thought "lost" somewhere in the north eastern US. The story is 3 brothers immigrated here from Europe, 1800's something, one ended up in BC, the other in the Washington State area, and the third was "lost". Possibly you are that connection. Sorry I don't have any info for you.
