Thank you to Susan Ness for all the info. given to me about Daisy Down, my husband's grandmother. Now that I have a track to run on, I'm interested in deepening the info.
George Down was born in 1795 in Kent, England. He married Elizabeth (?), b. 1796. They had 4 sons - Robert, George, Edward, and Richard.
Robert, the eldest, married Lydia Kesby and had one daughter, Elizabeth. After his child and wife passed away, he remarried to Lettitia Ann Clarke. They had 10 children together - William C., Alfred, Arthur, Benjamin, Everall, Solomon, Elizabeth, Henry, John, and Sarah.
William C. (b. 1854), the eldest, married Harriet Tyler (b. 1859) in 1878 (either Jul Aug or Sep) in Maidstone, Kent, England. They had 7 children - Daisy (my husband's paternal grandmother)(b. Feb 4, 1894 in Whitechapel, London, England), Lewis or Louis, William, Elizabeth, Edith, Albert, and Annie.
So, this is the basic lineage I have found. If someone can find me actual birthdates, death dates, and marriage dates on any/all of these folks, I would be ecstatic! Either that or point me in the direction to do the work myself. Whenever I've gone searching for info. from England, it seems that there are no FREE sites to get info. Would love to know if there are some out there!
