Joseph H. Dowler appears in the 1890 Veterans Census for New Jersey. In the census he claims to have served as a Sgt in a Kentucky regiment during the Civil War under the alias of Joseph Johnson. I suspect that he could possibly be the John H. Johnson who served as a Sgt in Company A of the 11th KY Infantry. He died in 1928 and is buried in Oak Hill Cemetery in Vineland, NJ. Is there a Dowler out there who can shed some light on this subject?
