According to the information I have, Robert the Bruce (of Braveheart fame...or should I say infamy??) had a daughter, Marjory. She was Princess of Scotland and married Walter Stuart, who became High Steward of Scotland around 1300 (??).Their son Robert II (1316) became King of Scotland. His granddaughter Marjory Stuart married Duncan Campbell (c. 1390).Their great great granddaughter Isabella Campbell married Gilbert Kennedy.Their daughter Helen Kennedy married William Adair c. 1520.My great great great g-mother was Martha Adair born 1840's in Mississippi.William Adair (c.1520) is supposedly my 14th great grandfather. My most recent Stuart ancestor would be Marjory Stuart (at 19th great g-mother) and Robert the Bruce is supposedly my 23rd great grandfather. That would be pretty hard for me to document though, but the English histories of the Stuarts, Campbells, Kennedys, and Adairs is pretty well accepted because of their ties to royalty. All that before the 1700's is based on the work of others, so I've just recorded it as such and leave it open to revision.
I'm glad someone has the Dowland documents for you. There is a section on some Dowlands in Austrailia in the book also. The author did even travel there too, and I remember a photo of him holding a koala bear!Feel free to ask if there is anything you need from the book if the copy you get is not clear.I am sure I will have some questions when I get the book out.My computer has been down at work until today and I've had a busy weekend, but I plan on checking the book in the next few days.
