Thank you so much for sharing your information about the Dowell family. I am a descendent of Micajah Dowell. (What a name, huh? Anybody know where it came from?) I am also curious about why William Dowell traveled to Virgina from England. I am wondering if it was for religious reasons. My Dowell great grandfather was very religious. Also do you know if a reference exists that traces William Dowell's roots in England?
