I've been checking into some of my Dowell records for the source of the name of Mary Hillem wife of George Dowell d. 1813. I havent' found it yet .. I did run across some info you might be interested in .. Prince William Co. Deed Book Q337 dated Oct. 7, 1765 - From Thomas Dowell to George Dowell, his son a deed of gift for 96 acres of land, part of 196 acres. Deed Book -R-112 .. dated Se 6, 1769. George Dowell, s/o Thomas Dowell ahd his wife Margaret sold to Charles Adams 130 acres part of 196 acres. THomas Dowell purchased in 1740. From the "Territorial Papers of the U.S. for the Territory Northwest of the river Ohio 1787-1803" there is a petition of sundry inhabitants dated 1801, including Thomas, John, George, Jesse, Oliver, RIchard, Vinson and Charles Dowell. In Muskingum Co., OH .. a record of the death of Geo Dowell, wod- d. 1813. His wife's name was Mary. She was b. VA c.1762 d. Nov. 7, 1854.. I believe the Hillem record I saw was a court record in Maryland .. I'm still looking in my files for it .. will let you know if I find it ... good luck ...
