Would like any information you have on William McDowell. I am descended from Philip
through his son Peter,Sr.,his son William. his son James, his son Augustus Hanon,my grandfather. My mother often said the name had been McDowell but she did not know when or why the Mc had been dropped. She also said the Dowells came into NC through the Shennandoah valley.Any informationyou have will be greatly appreciated.
