My wife is a descendant of the Manley Dowell you mentioned in your posting. Our records showed his wife as Julia A., but no last name. Manley was born in Ohio c.1817. Julia was born in Ohio c.1832. They had 8 children. The first three were born in Ohio, the next three were born in Illinois, and the last two were born in Eureka, Otter Township, Kansas. The seventh child, Nellie (born 1872), is my wife's ancestor.
Manley died October 15, 1888 in Eureka, Kansas. His widow moved to Colorad, and died in Pagosa Springs on November 3, 1900. Her body was taken back to Kansas for burial.
We don't know anything about Manley, including is parents' names, etc. And we obviously don't know anything about his wife. Any information you have would be very helpful. I do have more about their children, if that would be of interest to you.
