Dear Ellis

This a lucky day for you and your research in the Dowell lineage. Your Robert L. was the son of Augustus Hanan and Judith Dowell. Augustus was the son of William, who was the son of James. James was the son of William who was the son of Peter Dowell, Sr. Peter, Sr was the son of Phillip I and he was the son of Peter I. Peter was born about 1657. They were all in Maryland and later migrated to North Carolina. Augustus was born in North Carolina as was his father.
