Yes! Thank God I found someone after all this time!
Madeleine, this is so amazing! Just last week, I was looking through my grandmother's obituary album and came across Elizabeth Lambert Steadman's obituary! My grandmother keep it for over 20 years! Elizabeth was Emma Dowdy Lambert's daughter. Emma had Elizabeth & Lela by George Lambert.
My grandmother (Mary Lou Goldston Cotten) was Sondy's granddaughter. Actually, his name was SANDY. Sandy's wife, Louanna Womble, was my grandmother's grandmother. They basically raised my grandmother (Mary) and her siblings when their mother died. Their mother was Sandy & Louanna's daughter, Goldie.
Emma Dowdy would have been my grandmother's great-aunt (Sandy's sister)~ I guess that's why she kept the obituary all these years. I can't tell you how many times I have looked at this obituary and didn't know who it was. I had assumed it was some woman that my grandmother knew years ago or something. My grandmother and I were extremely close. She passed last year. But not before passing the legacy to me!
At any rate, we must talk! As soon as possible! This is a tremendous find for me and there's so much for us to share! We're 4th cousins!!
