Info on Anne Dowdy and George White, m. 1800, Bedford Co. VA.
Believe this to be my George White, died 1824, Casey Co. KY.
Abstract Will of 1824, March Court, Mercer Co. KY (have recently sent for complete will from Harrodsburg Historical Society, Harrodsburg, KY)
Wife: Jane
Children:
George W., Andrew, Maney, Eason/Eson, Ely, William, James, John, Nathan, Catherine, Sally, Polly, Isabel,Patsey, and Ester/Esther/Easter.

Executors: Thomas Hutchings and William Minor
Witnesses: JACQUELINE AMBLER LEWIS, Jacob Johnson, and Thomas Thoman (Thomas ?)
Appraisers: Leonard Taylor, Henry Harper, and William Cobb (s).

Jane appears to be Jane Herrington, m. George White in Knox Co. IN, Feb of 1824. Short-lived Marriage. (Documents from my gr-grandmother, Isabel White Reynolds, states that the Herringtons knew Isabel "ever since she was little". In 1820 Casey Co. census, one William Herrington suddenly appears as a close neighbor of George White. Daniel Herrington was in Crawford Co. IL in 1820.
Thomas Hutchings was son of Col. Thomas Hutchings (d. 1804, Boyle Co. KY). William Minor was son of Cyrus Minor (and possibly married one Mrs. Margaret Lewis--and/or William Minor who married Polly Rains in Mercer-Casey Co. KY). Thomas Hutchings was m. to Talitha Blagrove, d/o Henry V and Elizabeth Stokes (m. Mercer Co. KY in 1765, and may have left KY to VA--and came back to KY)
Jacqueline Ambler Lewis was born in 1764 in VA and died in 1886 in Boyle Co. KY. He m. Eliza Parks Hutchings--d/o Talitha Blagrove and Thomas Hutchings. Found that a Jacqueline Ambler Douhatt/Douhitt/Doud/Dowdy was born to Robert DOUHATT/DOUHITT and Mary AMBLER Marshall (d/o Chief Justice of Supreme Co., John Marshall). Believe Jacqueline Ambler Lewis related somehow to Ambler/Douhatt/Doud/Dowdy line and Lewis--and in the line of Meriweather Lewis. It is possible Jacqueline was just named after this line.
Leonard Taylor was in Rev. War and m. Sally Blagrove Sally was d/o Henry V. and and Elizabeth Stokes.
Henry Harper was in Crawford Co. IL in 1820--and William Cobb shows in court papers from Crawford Co. IL abt. 18222-1823). Nothing on Thomas Thoman (Thomas). All people in will of 1824 connected to Rev. War---and possibly George served under some of these men.
All these people were in Lunenburg Co. VA early on.
Possible George White m. Sarah Freeman in Bedford Co. Va in 1809. Have seen conflicting trees that show this George as son of George White and Mary Simpson---and George as son of Joseph White--who was married to Penelope Angell/Angle/Anglea. Joseph then married a ? TAYLOR.
Have found marriages for Joseph White's (Surety) daughters in Bedford Co. VA---but does not state that George was his son. I have also seen conflicting trees for Sarah White marriage to Benjamin Sykes Massey. some show her as the d/o Joseph, some show her as d/o George White and Elizabeth Cureton, and some show Elizabeth Cureton as marrying Benjamin Sykes Massey. Joseph White had a daughter, Massey White.
My gr-gr-grandfather, George Washington White was born in Casey Co. KY in 1817. He died in Crawford Co. IL, 18 Apr 1895. George's 2nd marriage was to Sarah Meloni Turner in 1851. My gr-grandmother, Isabel, was daughter from previous ? marriage. She had two siblings from this marriage, James and Nancy, born in IND. Isabel was b. in Casey Co. KY in 1846, 1847, 1849, depending on which document one wants to believe!! In Crawford Co. Il census, there was a Mansfield Massie. Families traveled often back and forth.
Thanks for any info concerning any names to this line.
Shari
