My great great grandfather is Newton Austin Dowdy b 1814 Kanawha W. VA (VA?) married to Elizabeth Lucy Smith. Their daughter is Emma Dowdy b 1848 Kanawha Co. W. VA married to Isaac Helms. Does anyone have any information on this family? I also have another question about Kanawha. I have a West Virgina map with Kanawha Co. On line there is a slave scedule and census listed with Kanawha Co., VA. Which is it? Thanks!
