Julie, I have no information on a Lucy A. Dowdall however that doesn't mean that she isn't a daughter of Samuel Dowdall and Mary Green, only that I have no information on her. You have certainly engaged my curiosity. All the information I have gives Samuel's wife name as Mary Green or Mary Dowdle.
Samuel had a number of children at least 5 and possilby 6 sons and 4 daughters that I can connect to him. I am most familiar with 3 of his sons: John; James & Richard, I have little if any information on his daughters. It isn't that I'm not interested just that I have a direct connection to 2 of the sons and contact with a researcher who is looking into the the 3rd. I shall have to get back to researching and see if I can find any information on the daughters of Samuel and Mary.
I would suggest checking with the Anglican Archives in Ottawa to see if they have a birth record for her. Samuel also had children baptised in (or by the Minister of) the Knox Presbyterian Church as well. The records for this time are hit or miss, the first Census wasn't until 1842 and it only listed the head of the household. The other place to check is in the Microfilms of the Perth Courier / Bathurst Chronicle. Do you have access to any of these?
It would appear that I am going to have to check out this lead for my own records.
