Dowdall Family Genealogy Forum

So nice to hear from you, Colm. I don't know anything about the Dowdall family except that Catherine Dowdall married Mathew (only one t is correct) Casey and that they with four children immigrated to Illinois about 1848 via the New Orleans port. Per their granddaughter, who is my husband's great grandmother, the family used the Mississippi River from New Orleans to Illinois. Since their four children were baptised at St Patrick's in Dublin (we have their baptismal records), I believe that Mathew and Catherine were married in that church. I do know that Skerries is a town familiar with this Casey family....don't know about the other town you have mentioned so far as distance from Skerries, etc. Any help would be appreciated greatly. I know that the separated relatives and their descendents kept in touch with each other until the 1950's, at least, based on letters written between the countries that we now possess. The east coast (New Jersey, New York) has never been mentioned in the Casey line, so I'm not so sure that there is a connection.
