I am researching Dow's in Ontario. My ggrandmother was Agnes Dow b. 1844 in Whitby, Ontario to 3 generations of William Dows who immigrated to Whitby from Scotland (I think my Dow family came from Banffshire - not sure yet).

William Dow (#1) m. Margaret Gerarrd. They had a son *William Dow.

*William (#2) b. 1777 (Scot) d. 1855 (Whitby, Ontario, Canada) m. Margaret Lumsden b. 1785, d. 1833. They had 11 kids between 1807 - 1830: *William, Margaret, Catharine, Robina, Elspet, John, Thomas, Alexander, Magdaline, Helen, James.

*William (#3) b. 1807 (Scot), d. 1843 (Whitby, Ontario) m. Elizabeth Strathearn, b. 1811 Ayrshire, d. 1867 Whitby. They had 5 kids between 1837 - 1844: David, John, Margaret, William, Agnes.

The family immigrated sometime before 1836. William Dow #2 came to Canada with 11 of his children and 2 grandchildren.

Would love to learn more about this family. I would be interested in article you mentioned if it is relevant.
