Hope this doesn't add to the confusion. I had checked The Book of Dow - and found nothing on the line with Abram in Canada until this last message - and then the Samuel and the marriage to a Billings provided the clues. The book has Samuel Dow b. 25 Aug 1768, son of Henry Dow of Nantucket, MA and Abigail Chase. Samuel is listed with 5 sisters and 1 brother, Reuben. (No Abram listed, tho.)It suggests this is probably the Samuel who d. Billingsridge Ont. 1805. He m. in RI Joanna Harkness. They went to VT then Ontario. A daughter m. _____ Billings. Her son Charles Billings was an elderly Quaker in Billingsridge Ont. in 1881. No info on other children - but nothing indicates there weren't others. Not sure how this fits with the info you have - but figure there may be a connection. I have the ancestry for Henry, Samuel's father.
