Mary [DOW?] b. 1865 PA m. Wm. WAID
Posted by: Geoffrey Pope Date: January 28, 2000 at 15:25:59
  of 2066

My great-grandmother's given name was Mary; she and her husband William WAID were both born in PA in the year 1865, and they were in Tidioute, Warren Co., PA in the 1900 census with children Ralph DOW Waid 1888-1933 (my grandfather), Hazel, Kenneth, Georgianna, and Harriett.

Also in the household in the 1900 census was an Agnes DOW, b. 1883.

Given the very prevalent custom of giving the mother's maiden name as a middle name (as was done in the case of my grandfather, William's and Mary's firstborn) and the presence of Agnes DOW my theory is that Mary Waid's maiden name was DOW.

Has anyone a Mary DOW b. 1865 PA who m. William WAID? Who were her parents? Her siblings? Has anyone information on DOW-WAID intermarriages in Western PA in that era (esp. in Warren, Crawford, Butler, or Venango Cos.)?

PLS EMAIL ME DIRECTLY. Thanks!
