Yes, I did forget a son of Capt. Timothy and Margaret (Sawyer) Dow, but it wasn't 1st Lt. Timothy Dow.1st Lt. Timothy is buried with his parents in their lot at Horse Hill cemetery.William and Hannah (?) Dow's family burials are about two or three rows from where Capt. T's family is buried.
The son I forgot to mention was Samuel Sawyer Dow, born c. 1815, d. 20 May 1884.His wife was Betsey, who died 19 Oct. 1898 ae. 86 y, 6 mos. Also buried at Horse Hill cemetery.
The family of Capt. Timothy and Margaret (Sawyer) Dow should be as follows: Josiah Farnum Dow c. 1809, Mary Sawyer Dow c. 1812, Samuel Sawyer Dow c. 1815, Amos Sawyer Dow c. 1817, and Albert G. Dow c. 1820.
Mary Sawyer Dow, b. c. 1812, md. Nathan W. Moore in 1834.She died 25 Dec. 1848 ae. 36 yrs. -- buried with Capt. Timothy Dow family.
Their was Moore issue.
Amos Sawyer Dow, b. c. 1817, d. 12 Feb. 1840 ae. 23 yrs. -- buried with Capt. Timothy Dow family.
Samuel Sawyer Dow, b. c. 1815, md. Betsey (?), he died 20 May 1884, ae. 69 yrs.Burial in Horse Hill cemetery.
Albert G. Dow, b. 3 January 1820, Md. Esther M. Abbott, d. 20 Mar 1900.Esther M. died 19 Aug. 1893.Their only child Etta Esther, died 27 Sept. 1883.They are all buried at Horse Hill cem. -- several rows from the Capt. T. family burials. His mother Margaret (Sawyer) Dow Danforth, lived with him and Esther from the 1850's until her death in 1880, ae. 93 yrs.
You asked about any information on 1st Lt. Timothy and Martha J. (Hoyt) Dow.The only information I have is from headstones.They are buried with his parents William and Hannah.Lt. Timothy died 15 Sept. 1863, ae. 42 yrs. 8 mos.Martha, died 9 Sept. 1880, ae 57 yrs. 7 mos. -- Three of their(T & M's) children are also buried with them: Timothy B. b. 4 Mar 1853 d. 4 Oct. 1854 (1 yr 7 mos); T. Byron b. 15 Jan 1856 d. 25 Mar. 1864 (ae. 8-2-10); and Sarah E. Dow, wife of Charles Lovejoy, b. 12 Jan 1851 d. 12 July 1872 (ae 21 yrs 6 mos).
I believe that Martha remarried after Lt. Timothy's death -- I cannot locate information at this time or remember the name. I believe she went to live in the Henniker, NH area. (Not sure of the Henniker spelling??)
My great grandfather had pictures taken of the various family burials at Horse Hill cem. back in 1904.Many stones have been damaged since then.I know that Lt. Timothy's stone was replaced many years after 1904.Prob. by family members.
Hopefully, this will help place Lt. Timothy Dow with his parents William and Hannah.I don't believe I have ever sought an official vital record regarding Lt. Timothy.I guess I should to see what may have been recorded.
This Lt. Timothy would have been a cousin to my great great grandfather Josiah Farnum Dow.
Capt. Timothy Dow's date of death should be 29 Jul 1823, from Aug. 1823 probate records and headstone information.
Thanks for the wealth of information you have shared with me.
