This is somewhat of a stretch here, but I'm working on my wife's ancestry and have come up with a dead end in her Simpson/Dow branch of the family tree.
It seems that Peter and Margaret (Dow) Simpson emigrated from Scotland in about 1880-81, stopping in either Wisconsin or Iowa. I know in later years the couple lived in Berlin, Wis.
Margaret Dow (surname may have been Don, writing was not very legible) and husband Peter Simpson had 10 children, and the first born in the U.S. was in 1882 (James Forbes Simpson, born October 6, 1882, Montello, Marquette, Wis.). There was one younger daughter also born in Montello, born after James Forbes; I believe she was the youngest of the 10 children ...
Could the Dow you are seeking who emigrated in 1881 be related to Margaret Dow?
Kind regards,
