In looking for my ancestors in Harrison Co., IA, I found a S.E. Dow, who settled there in 1851; and in 1858 he went to Crawford County and founded Dow City, IA. Is this the Dow that you are looking for? I am looking for ORRA DOW m. John GALLUP, Plainfield, CT>NH>Plainfield, CT. Orra is the daughter of Benjamin DOW of Sterling, CT. Their daughter Lucy Emily GALLUP m. Benjah Samuel GREENE and had 2 children, Orra/Orrie Emily GREENE (my grandmother) & Lucy G.GREENE, both born in CT -- the mother died young. The family removed to Harrison County, IA in 1870.
