Thomas Dow of Newburyport, Mass. (1639)
Posted by: Wallace G. Dow Date: December 21, 1998 at 09:42:03

I am a direct descendent of Thomas Dow of Newburyport, Mass. (1639) as mentioned in "The Book of Dow". My father Wallace G. Dow Sr. is mentioned in the book. Does anyone know the origin of Thomas Dow? It is not clear in the book where he came from other that his boat left from England. At the time there were numerous Dows in England, Scotland, and Ireland. Also, why is the name relatively uncommon in the UK today?
