Karen! When I read your message on the genealogy page, I noticed the date (January 2003) and doubted that I would ever hear from you. Imagine my delight to find a note in my inbox! Uncle Isaac was my grandfather's brother. You must be Aunt Lesie's daughter? That would make you and my daddy first cousins, right? I remember Aunt Doll, Uncle Clifton, Uncle Dub (W.D.), Aunt Hallie Mae, and Uncle Dick (Alvin). My grandfather was Oscar Oliver. My father is Jack Ellis, and his siblings are Ralph, Robert Percy, Bill (W.T., deceased), and Emma Jean Dowe Smith. My brother's wife, also a Karen, had twin boys July before last, and Will is named for his great-great grandfather! My daughter says that she loves to hear stories about the "grancestors." Your e-mail address did not come up on my ummmm@bellsouth.net page, so I couldn't e-mail you directly, but I would love to know about Frank P. Dow and Margaret Harper!
I've been in Alabama since 1987. My husband worked for Bechtel at a Tennessee Valley Authority nuclear power plant; he retired a couple of years ago, and he passed away last month. I have three children--ages 26, 21, and 18, and I teach college English. My married name is Cheryl Carpenter.
