FORMER KENDAL,WI BLACKSMITH VICTIM OF AN ASSASIN--1-19-1922 FROM "THE KENDALL KEYSTONE NEWS"
No little stir was created here Friday becaus an Associated Press Dispatch from Kansas City,MO, anouncing that HORACE A. DOW formerly of Kendall,WI and later of Janesville,Wisconsin was shot and killed on January 7 (1922). The shooting is somewhat of a mystery, as Dow was going under the name of HARRY DANIELSON and there was little to establish his identity. Later his wife ANNA DOW went from Janesville,WI to Kansas, MO.
The shooting took place in the garage of the man for whom HORACE DOW was working. The police seem to think the deed was committed by a woman. They found the death weapon . it was smeared with blood, evidently being in close quarters and the samll finger marks on it indicated the hand of a woman .
When HORACE DOW lived here he oonducted the Blacksmith Shop now owned by CARROL HOLMES. The building adjoined the POLLARD Garage is still a part of his estate. In the war(WWI) demand for men he found profitable employment at Janesville and later his wife joined him there. then came a season of unemployment and his job passed with thousands of others. He then visited Kendall for a day or two in the Keystone Office said he was going down east to visit friends. He said his wife was visiting at the CHARLES ENGLISH home in South Glendale and would visit around at various places during his absence with eastern friends. Soon after that he disappeared................
Not related...hopefully will help family researches--Sincerely ,Ann
