I am researching my father's family and we have my great grandfather Daniel Dow who was the son of a Daniel Dow, farmer said to be of Muthill. We cannot find any details about him except that he married a Mary Readdie (or Reddy) and that she had a sister or mother called Grace who lived in Crieff.

My g.grandfather Daniel was born in Crieff about 1831 and the first indication he have of him is in 1841 when he was living with Grace Readdie in Crieff. We suspect that both his mother and father were deceased by then as we can find no mention of them in Crieff or Muthill in 1841.

Hope this is of interest. I don't suppose there were too many Dow's in Crieff or Muthill at this time so those that were may be related.
