To all you Dow researchers, I have a letter dated March 29, 1900 written to my husbands g.grandmother Amy Alice Dow. It is from Ararat, PA. In it she mentions a family reunion for the Baldwins and Dow' and other related family names.
My husbands g. grandmother was a twin to Ada. Her father's name was Francis L. (Frank)Dow. They lived in Clarion, IA.
The letter mentions, Franks, brother George, his daughter, (Mary m. to a Sanford.) She also mentions Frank's uncle George. Later she talks of aunt Philena Tallman. The letter goes on to describe the reunion . Later she talks about where her and her husband live on 100 acres which is the old Baldwin homestead. She also mentions Uncle Edwin Baldwin. She says she is sure Frank would remember the homestead as it was his grandfather Baldwins home. She describes the old school where she and George and Frank went to school. She mentions the Baldwin family in NY and that Charles Baldwin is the line in IA. Have been trying so hard to find info on Francis's family. Hope someone out there can help. I just got a phone call last night from my husbands brother and he has found another letter dated 1898 which also talks about a reunion also a newspaper clipping sent with it. He is sending it snail mail and will let everyone know what I find out. Hope people out there will also help.
