I am related to the Dows of Ns as well. I do not have any specific information on Aubrey Dow; he must be one of the Samuel Dows. My line begins with William Dow, who may have had a brother named Samuel. I do know that both the Dows and the Dowes were the same family-my uncle said that one branch changed the spelling so as not to be confused with the other cousins they didn't like, but that may have been a family tall tale. More likely, since the name change did not occur until the late 1800s around the time that people began to be more literate and also to be more formally recorded with respect to birth/death/marriage etc, some government person misspelled the name and it had to stick.
