Alex. Lockhart Simpson Dow - Four Generations
Posted by: Alex Dow Date: February 04, 2002 at 03:22:06
  of 2066

My full name is -
Alexander Lockhart Simpson DOW

and I am the fourth generation; but fifth holder of that name.

If anyone has additional information helping to identify its source, I would appreciate receiving it.

The name suddenly appears in 1839 with the birth of my G-Grandfather, without obvious sources, either collectively or individually.

For all its apparent importance in my direct line, it does not appear completely or partially in collateral or earlier lines that I am aware of.

Legend has it that "Simpson" is connected with the ancestral family of Sir James Young Simpson (Anasthaesia Gynaecology); but again I have not been able to establish this, the only clue being that the wife of the first ALSD was Barbara Young.

All are based in and around Edinburgh, Scotland.

ALSD 2 ("brother" of Grandfather)

Gen 1

Gen 0

Thanks for any help received.
