Description: Stern-faced older woman facing three-quarter right. She is wearing an elaborate white lace bonnet tied in a bow under her chin. Her dark blue outfit appears to be almost a cape with a white fabric collar. Her blue eyes are directed at the viewer.


History of Work: Notes:

Wife of Edward Douglass, Jr., born in North Carolina. It was said that when she was a young woman, she danced with Lord Cornwallis.
