After reviewing different Chancery records, it would seem this family descends from James Douglass and his wife Elizabeth. They had William, John, James, Robert, Nancy married James Dixon (Dickson) and Elizabeth married Matthew Wilson.
I believe this is the James Douglass listed by the Indiana DAR who married Elizabeth Duffield 19 April 1773 in Dauphin County, PA. James born abt 1744 and died in Rockbridge County 26 April 1811.
James bought land in Rockbridge County on the 14th Nov 1795. It states he was from Cumberland County, PA.
