LouAnn: Have been reading Douglass queries back to 2001; andhave early information regarding your line. In "History of Chazy, NY" there is a reference to Nathaniel Douglass, Sr. married 2nd a Miss Traversie. Her name was Marie Charlotte Traversy, b. 1763 in St. Francois du Lac, Quebec. Her parents were Joseph Langlois Traversy, b. 1728 and Marie Charlotte Vidal Caron. Joseph fought with Hazen's 2nd Canadian Regiment in the Rev War and received bounty land in Clinton Co. (Lot 11, Chazy.) This French Canadian family lived next door or one lot away from Nathaniel Douglass. After Nathaniel's 1st wife, Prudence Brown, died in 1796, he married Marie Charlotte Traversy (many sp. variations) and later moved to land that Nathaniel Douglass Jr. purchased in Canada, which was early on called Douglass Corners, Douglassville, later Napierville. One son, Joseph Douglass' name is found in 1837 in St. Francois du Lac regarding a list concerning the Patriot War of 1837. Marie's father, Joseph, died 1796, but her two brothers, Joseph Jr. and Andrew lived in Chazy or Champlain NY until about 1810. I am interested in the family of Marie and Nathaniel Douglass. He died in 1821 and is buried on the farm in Douglassville. Bonnie
