There are appraisal records, land sales, costs, and public sales records etc. in the packet.
James DOUGLASS married Nancy BARRON who says she was widowed by James S. HENSLEY Bolivar, Polk Co, MO in 1847.

In the 1840 MO Census a Thomas DOUGLASS is living (prob near Seneca), Newton Co, MO where Nancy died.

James HENSLEY, 1840 Census in Barry Co, MO and I. A. (Ira Alexander DOUGLASS in Smith Twp, Barry Co, MO (now area in Dade Co, MO). Nancy Caroline (Barron) Hensley may actually have been __GLAS whose mother was WARE. The children she has named as Murray in the probate above seem to be her own HENSLEY (DOUGLASS?) children (See the 1850 Greene Co, MO census, Cass Twp, James DOUGLASS with these Hensley children. She had a daughter Virginia Almeda (HENSLEY).

Jonathan L. DOUGLAS in the probate is the son of Joseph Rufus DOUGLASS of GREENE CO, MO(Jonathan L. DOUGLASS' marr. lic. states he is from MO married Sarah LOWE in Lawrence Co, MO).

Joseph Rufus DOUGLASS is a son of age when his father JONATHAN DOUGLASS died in Greene Co, MO in 1841 Intestate records in Greene Co, MO show Jonathan's personal belongings sold and other records of Knox Co, TN and Athens, TN banks settled with all proceeds given to his minor heirs and widow. Joseph Rufus DOUGLASS and his sister Harriet CROCKETT HOGSETT of Anderson Co, TN, filed suit in MONROE CO, TN saying his father, Jonathan DOUGLASS, left his will in Monroe Co, TN, in 1840 (1840 Census Monroe Co, TN, shows Jonathan being a resident).

James C. DOUGLASS and the minor children of Jonathan DOUGLASS were in the 1850 Monroe Co, TN Census. He was 10 years younger than in the Greene Co, MO Census. James was single. (I have a certificate (copy of the original) that Dr. James Douglass married (Nancy) Caroline Hensley in 1848 written by William Dunn, JP of Dade Co, MO). A Nancy BARRON lived a few dwellings away. Also single.

In the Monroe Co, TN records all the children of Jonathan DOUGLASS named:
Harriet Crockett DOUGLASS (b 1818)
James Alfred DOUGLASS (b 21 Mar 1821)
Joseph Rufus DOUGLASS b 29 May 1823
John G. A. DOUGLASS b 27 Jul 1825
Franklin C. DOUGLASS b 2 Aug 1826,
Dewitt Clinton DOUGLASS b 1828
Amanda Jane DOUGLASS b 28 May 1831
Mary Eliza DOUGLASS b 4 Mar 1834
Oscar Eagleton DOUGLASS b 6 apr 1836
Theodore Crockett DOUGLASS b. 10 Nov 1838 (age 3 when his father died).

Of the sons, only Joseph Rufus DOUGLASS and Theodore lived to be of age with Harriet Crockett DOUGLASS Hogsett and Mary Eliza also living to be of age. Jane YOUNG, was Jonathan's widow. The records are held by the TN State archives. The probate establishes that Dr. James DOUGLASS and Jonathan DOUGLASS are brothers, another brother was James DOUGLASS in Little Rock she describes as a son but may have been a nephew. My research shows that there was an early Joseph B. GLASS and wife buried in Miller Co, AR (adjoins Hempstead Co, AR and only a few miles from the Bowie Co, TX line. It is likely the Glass' could have been Cherokee.

James MURRAY (probably the same James MURRAY, who was Jonathan DOUGLASS' admin. in Greene Co, MO) apparently married Jane Long DOUGLASS who was the daughter of THOMAS DOUGLASS "reportedly married a Cherokee woman named GLAS or WARE" (Murray forum #118), her brothers were Nimrod, Bushrod & Coonrod (DOUGLASS).The submitter gave JAMES KELSEY MURRAY 1832-1920 left Wood Co, TX around 1897 moving to Weleetka, Okfuskee Co, OK. He m. Lillian Gertrude JONES 1878-1942.

Joseph Bolivar WHITE b 27 May 1826 Knox Co, TN d 10 May 1890 Washington Co, AR m. June Catherine DANIEL b 4 Oct 1830 Sumner Co, TN d 1 Mar 1912. Joseph was the son of Abraham Denton WHITE married Elizabeth DOUGLASS, lived 1866 Greene Co, MO d. MO.
