Elizabeth (Eliza) Jane Douglas

I suspect that my great-grandmother was married twice, first to Thomas Lee and then to Hugh Thomas Duff. We only have Lee as a surname for her, but bits of evidence suggest that Douglas may have been her maiden name. Thomas Lee was listed in the 1880 census in Daviess County, KY with his wife Eliza, and two daughters. The children's names are not common and they match both by name and by birth year to the known information for my grandmother's oldest sisters.

I am looking for someone named Elizabeth Douglas, possibly born in western KY, possibly born in TN, in 1856. Her daughter said that she was an only child. A picture of her as a young teen-ager shows a well-groomed and stylishly dressed young woman, which fits with the daughter's information that her mother was from a well-to-do family.

If you have any information, please let me know.

Margaret Stradley Marquis
