I have researched the Douglases and discovered all about the Red and Black Douglas. But my question is not about them.
Family lore has it that there were two Douglas brothers who wanted to escape the situation in Scotland, moved to London and changed their name to Glass. This was supposed to have occurred because of the Black Douglas (but there were plenty of Douglas branches all over Scotland AND northern England) at the time. The other part of this story is that the brothers were doctors. I am trying to either prove or disprove this. All family lore has some portion of it as the truth. For all I know, there might have been a minor branch somewhere that was tired of the situation and the two brothers packed up and left without another word to their families.
