I have a copy of an extract from A Naval Biographical Dictionary, compiled by William O'Bryne, in which is recorded:

DOUGLAS, (Commander 1844)
CHARLES HENRY DOUGLAS entered the navy 9 April, 1827; pased his examination in 1835; obtained his forst commission 9 May 1839; was afterwards appointed 3 Jan, 1840 and 11 Mar 1841 to the Blenheim 72, and Druid 44, Capts Thos Maitland and Henry Smith, on the East India station; and was advanced to the rank he now holds, 10 July, 1844. he has since been on half-pay. Agents--Messrs Stilwell.

I regret I have no knowledge of his parenthood, but would be very interested to learn more.

William Douglas
