Edwin Ellis Doughty was a son of James Archibald Doughty [born 16 Sep 1876, Izard County Arkansas, son of Lemuel "Lemon" Doughty and Nancy Ann Hively] and Eliza Ellen DeBerry, [born 4 Feb 1877, Freestone Co TX., daughter of Edwin Morrison DeBerry and Mary Elizabeth "Molly" Keel.] Your grandfather was my uncle Ellis, the older brother of my father.
The children of James "Arch" and "Ellen" Doughty were:
1. Ila Faye Doughty, b. 26 Aug 1902, Martha
Indian Territory, Oklahoma. Deceased.
2 EDWIN ELLIS DOUGHTY, born 1904 [perhaps 13 May?], Indian Territory, Oklahoma. Married Vesta Shipman, resided Oklahoma City, Oklahoma in 1930's. I believe Uncle Ellis is now deceased. Uncle Ellis and Aunt Vesta had two daughters and one son.
3. Nancy Mae Doughty, born 1906, I.T.,OK
Now deceased.
4. Mary Ellen Doughty, b. 12 July 1908,
Martha, Jackson County, Oklahoma. deceased.
5. JAMES MARVIN DOUGHTY, [MY FATHER]
b. 22 Aug 1910 Martha, Jackson Co.,OK., died 16 Aug 1937.
6. Stella Belle Doughty, born 20 Nov 1912 Martha, Jackson Co., OK. Deceased.
7. Loree Doughty, b&d 1914
8. Kathleen Doughty b.1 Sep 1915. Deceased.
9. Ruth Evalyna Doughty, Living.
We recently [May 2001] had a family reunion at Aunt Ruth's home in Alabama. Wish we had known about you; would love to have had you there. Aunt Ruth is the only sibling of the 10 children of my grandparents, Arch and Ellen, still living
10. Clarence Alvin Doughty, born 3 Mar 1921,
Martha, Jackson County, Oklahoma. Uncle Alvin died Gordonville, TX and is buried at Whitesboro, Texas.
I have been researching lines of my family, including my DOUGHTY lines, for more than twenty years. If you are interested in exchanging information, I would love to hear from you. I have pictures of my grandparents Arch and Ellen Doughty; gr-grandparents Lemuel and Nancy [Hively]Doughty; great-great grandparents Lorenzo and Sarah [Cooksey] Doughty, which I will gladly share with you.
